It’s late December, so here’s a look back at my 2024 in electronic music: what I released, how it did, and what I’m planning next.
What I released
I put out several tracks this year. One of them, Change My Mind, was picked up by curated playlists on Spotify that feature emerging artists.
The number I’m happiest about belongs to an older single. Cause of You has been out for more than two years, and this year it passed 144,000 streams. It’s good to see a track still being played that long after release.
Both are on my music page with the rest of my releases.
Learning to DJ
I also spent more of the year on DJing. The plan is to start playing clubs in the near future, and I’d like to work up to larger stages from there. What I have in mind is a mix of soulful melodies and high-energy drops.
What I noticed in EDM this year
Trance had a strong year. Some producers went back to the older sound and others leaned on newer production techniques, and both found an audience. In the clubs, house was on top, with tech house and progressive house leading. I’ve written before about what progressive house means in my own music.
A few other things stood out. More artists worked across genres, pulling hip-hop, pop and even classical music into EDM. Festivals put more weight on reducing their environmental impact. AI production tools turned into a real debate among producers. And the big festivals, Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas and Ultra Miami among them, did what they always do and brought a lot of people together around this music.
What I’m planning for 2025
New releases are coming in 2025. I want them to go deeper emotionally and hit harder than what I’ve done so far.
